I know there is a statute of limitations for traffic tickets ???

doesn't this apply to traffic tickets too ???
If you file them don't they "vanish" after a few years ???

You shouldn't be able to be jailed for just traffic tickets

Drunk driving Yes, but lead foot....10 mph over on freeway no
My friend does not consume alcohol....

I have a friend who works 2 jobs often gets nabbed for speeding on a
FREEWAY
where traffic usually moves at 75 or more except during "special times"

It's during several of these "special times" that he drove the normal
speed and got pulled over

he's already paid about $4000 in speeding and carpool fees in about 4
years....

getting into an arguement with the officer and the judge did not help
his case

No , the statute of limitations applies to the time
between a crime occurring and the time when a
charge is laid. Issuing a ticket is laying the charge.
If no ticket was issued then the offence would lapse

Nope

Just as you shouldnt be jailed for not paying a fine
for any other minor offense, providing you pay the fine.

Then he should learn to slow down and/or keep an eye
open for police cars.

So he's an inattentive habitual speeder with an attitude problem,
sounds like he should grow up a little.

Right, eventually. In some instances, if a ticket wasn't issued at the
scene one could be issued shortly thereafter, such as with a photo radar
ticket, but that has to be done within the limitations period, which
will vary by jurisdiction and offense.

Nope
To be exact:

-- if the ticket is contested and you win, you're off the hook

-- if you pay the ticket, it will affect your home state driving
record, but how long it will stay on the record and how much it will
hurt is up to your home state

-- if you just blow off the ticket, then that's a brand-new offense
(failure to appear, or something like that -- in Hawaii, it's treated as
contempt of court, so the police blotters there are full of contempt
charges), with a potentially longer limitation period and more merciless
enforcement than on the original speeding charge.

This idiot has posted the same thing in several groups already.
He is obviously under the impression that it's perfectly acceptable to speed
beyond the posted limit and tell a cop he doesn't have the time for being
stopped and then whines when he's busted for eluding.
His claim is that a private pilot apparently has the "right" to disobey
traffic rules on the ground.

Both he and his "friend" are idiots.
