Next year I am planning to rent a car in Chicago, drive to Las
Angeles, then drop the car off there.

Any advice on doing this? Any companies any better than others for
this service?

Thanks

Brian

You have to shop around. This really depends on timing. Many auto rental
companies will eliminate the drop off fee if they need are light in
inventory in California, but have excess inventory in Chicago.

In addition, there are companies that arrange for car transportation:
you drive someone's private (and usually quite recent model) car
from Chicago to LA in some fixed number of days, you pay for gas,
but you pay no rent.

Hello. I'd be interested in getting some information about this
solution. Do you have any reference, URL that you can point out to me,
please?

Happy new year to everyone.

Cheers,
Gabriele

National positions itself as the company for one-way rentals. They charge a higher per-day rate for one-ways but no drop off charges. Therefore, they are encouraging quick 1-way rentals. If you are planning on driving expditiouly, and the other
companies charge high one way fees, try National.
